BMW Sauber and Flumotion
Congratulations to the BMW Sauber team for their 4th place in today’s Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barcelona.
I am proud that the live streaming of the BMW Sauber Pit Lane Park in Barcelona was powered by Flumotion
On Thursday, I committed a new component to Flumotion. It is a component that will let you switch between different sources. This allows for a few use cases, a couple of examples described below:
- Switching to a backup stream (such as a looping video) when the primary stream goes down (camera issues, machine issues etc.) ensuring a continuous stream for listeners/watchers
- Switching between slides and presenter at appropriate times.
To create this component, a fix was required for basetransform in gstreamer. I had to port a switching element from GStreamer 0.8 to 0.10 and the result is the switch element in gst-plugins-bad cvs. Also I had to modify flumotion allowing components to differentiate between different eaters, which turned out to be the trickiest part.
