Istanbul Icon & How to deal with Nagios

Christophe Dumas has made an awesome icon for Istanbul. I wish I could get anywhere close myself but just don’t have the talent.

So for the last 4-5 months or so, I have been receiving Nagios messages for the Flumotion Streaming Platform. Today I had 895 unread messages on my phone. I thought enough was enough and decided to write a python app that deletes all Nagios sent messages. I did not realise how simple it was on my Nokia 3230.

Here it is:

import inbox

i=inbox.Inbox()
m=i.sms_messages()
for message in m:
    if i.address(message) == "Nagios":
        i.delete(message)

It took a while to run due to the number of messages, but it worked. Now I only have 36 unread messages. The good thing is, now I can run this whenever I want on the phone. Saves a lot of manual deleting of messages.

Today was the Liverpool vs Man Utd game at Anfield. Manchester United won scoring in the last few minutes with their first attempt on goal and their 4th shot through the whole game. To be fair, I would be overstating their quality during the game, if I said they were as good as Watford (the team curretly bottom in the league). Unfortunately we just could not score a goal after Bellamy’s goal was ruled out for offside. I mention this game only for the dispicable behaviour of one of Manchester United’s best players in the last 10 years. A certain Paul Scholes. After losing the ball, he went for a knockout punch on Xavi Alonso. Fortunately for everyone, he just missed and there was no reaction from Alonso. I am sure I’ll be able to link to a youtube video soon enough. Anyways, Manchester United are on their way to the league title winning games they have no right to. Time to concentrate on the Barcelona game on Tuesday, on our way to our 6th European cup.
